Welcome
to the Finchden Fellowship.com. |
This a companion site to Finchden.com, one of the original websites
about George Aubrey Lyward and the experience of his creation
Finchden Manor 1930 - 1974 |
| The
aim of this site is to celebrate the values of Finchden, it's founder,
philosophy, experience and creative output. |
| Finchden
Fellowship was born out of the revival of the Finchden Community
through the creation of an annual event. These events brought people
together after a gap of some 30 years. They have challenged us to
re-examine the original experience and find a deeper understanding
of G.A.Lyward, known to us as the Chief. |
| As
result of this renewed experience, the desire to account for the
life and experience of Finchden has grown. The best account so far
is Michael Burns book "Mr Lywards Answer". This is a much
valued book by Finchdonians. Difficult to produce due to conflicting
opinions and ideas when it was originally written, it has survived
these sensitivities to remain a highly regarded book by Finchdonians
themselves. |
It
reflects the challenge of evolution and change - to engage with
and evolve the essential values of the original experience. These
fundimentally articulate the art of hospitality, and by so doing
command the basic creative values of freedom - a sense of charity,
forgiveness and personal responsibility. |
